The Telos Alliance® xNode2 is the next generation of the broadcast industry’s most trusted family of AoIP interfaces. As the successor to the venerable and proven xNode, xNode2 carries on as the ultimate “universal translator” between external analog, microphone, and AES/EBU devices and Livewire+ AES67 AoIP networks.
xNode2 retains the same rugged, fanless, and space-efficient half-rack form factor of its predecessor, while its redesigned internal hardware serves as a foundation for meeting ever-evolving industry technical requirements. Among these are dual 1000MB network interfaces to provide compliance with SMPTE 2022-7 (Seamless Protection Switching of RTP Datagrams), allowing streaming to separate network branches for audio redundancy and automatic failover to the available RTP stream.
xNode2 boasts a high-resolution, multi-function LCD color front panel display, while redundant power is provided by a combination of AC and PoE+ (IEEE 8023at). As with the original xNode, xNode2 will be offered in five variations: Analog, AES/EBU, Microphone, Mixed-Signal, and GPIO.
Features and Details
- Silent,fanless design for in-studio use
- High-resolution,multi-function LCD color front panel display for metering and status information
- Redundant power via AC and PoE+
- Low power consumption – just 16 Watts each
- Support for SMPTE 2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching
- SAP support
- Fully configurable mixing matrix supports physical and network audio I/O and stream conversion
- Built-in Syslog server with configurable filter and external logging
- I/O via RJ-45 or DB-25 connectors
- Versatile mounting options
Use Cases and Applications
xNode2 is a direct replacement for the original xNode. As such, their use cases are identical. In the studio, xNode2 represents one of the easiest ways to integrate non-networked audio devices into an AoIP environment. Their fully configurable and highly versatile mixing matrix makes them perfectly suited for stream conversion and AoIP signal routing.
As mentioned, xNode2 supports SMPTE 2022-7 for redundant networks. Initially, xNode2 will not support the classic Ethernet bonding method of redundancy offered in xNode; that functionality is planned for a future software update.
Pricing and Availability
List pricing for xNode2 remains the same as xNode. xNode2 will be available to order upon its release on October 29, 2024. The Microphone version will begin shipping at the end of October, followed by AES/EBU, Mixed-Signal, GPIO, and finally, Analog xNode2 models by early December. There is still a limited number of xNodes in stock for customers who need immediate delivery, want continuity with existing equipment, or require the Ethernet bonding compatibility presently available in the original xNode lineup.
